Set in the heart of historic 1066 country
Just a few miles from the historic town of Battle in 1066 country, Sedlescombe Golf Club offers excellent golf, hotel & conference facilities for the golfer and non golfer alike.
The parkland golf course measures 6269 yards and with a variety of obstacles including ponds and deep fairway bunkers, provides an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities. Sedlescombe also features a par 3 course, which far from being a simple pitch and putt, maintains the difficulty of the main course with holes measuring up to 176 yards from tee to green.
Our spacious, naturally lit business meeting rooms set amongst the rural East Sussex countryside just 5 miles north of Hastings on the A21 make us the ideal “get away from it all” experience for day delegates or residential conferences with our luxury 20 bedroom hotel as well as fine dining in Greens restaurant.
Sedlescombe is also proud to be home to the James Andrews School of Golf, the UK’s leading residential golf school as voted by Today’s Golfer magazine. With 8 PGA qualified professionals on site, courses are designed for all ages and abilities and run all year round.
The picturesque 18 hole course is situated near Sedlescombe within the Battle great wood in the heart of historic 1066 country. Designed for all ages and standards of golfer, the 18 hole course offers a superb environment to progress your game.
The opening hole is one of the toughest par 4’s on the course measuring 419 yards, playing straight into the predominant wind with bunkers and a water hazard surrounding the green.
Two par 5’s back to back, the 4th and 5th offer a good opportunity for birdies. These holes are followed by a tough stretch of par 4 fours including the 6th, 8th and 9th all measuring near to or over 400 yards. The 9th is the signature hole. It plays downhill with a dogleg to the left. Two ponds protect the green with any short approach shots ending up in the water.
The back nine is more about accuracy than power. It only measures 2,839 yards but there is little opportunity for the driver as narrow fairways and small greens mean any wayward shots will be punished. The course ends with a risk and reward par 5. At 492 yards it is well in range in two shots for the big hitters. However with out of bounds down both sides, it is a risky play with a driver.
Par 3 Course
With holes ranging from 80 – 180 yards, the par 3 course at sedlescombe is by no means a simple pitch and putt. With a variety of holes featuring sandtraps, tiered greens and undulating approaches, it makes an ideal stepping stone into the world of golf and provides a unique challenge to golfers of all ages and abilities.
